LSNED - Sept. 30

I know I haven't gotten tomorrow's prompt, but I'm winging it like I have done most of the time. The prompts give me ideas, but I usually stay within my thoughts for the day. I know I probably won't have the time to scrap tomorrow, so I did my entry tonight.

Review: Avery Glue Stics

Okay, I know that most people want to use the best glue in the world to do their projects, but for me, I have to admit, I love the glue sticks made by Avery. I've seen them selling online for around $2.39 for a three pack, but do not order them until you visit your local Dollar Tree store. Three glue sticks are only $1.00. They're acid free, photo safe, and permanent. I love their tacky factor. Yes, I still love my Glue Dots and Zots for thicker embellishments, but for gluing layers of paper and ribbon, save yourself some money and reach for an Avery glue stic.

LSNED - Sept. 22

I used a tagmap from Pagemaps for this one. Took a cartoon, deleted all the colors except the flesh tones and the dark mouth. Erased the ponytails and hair bands and added some more short hair on the one side of the face. Handcolored the rest. Made the poms by hand cutting a small circle punch and using a brad maker punch. Added some Stickles and sparkle brads. And yes, it is liberating, but I keep reaching for my ponytail still!

Lisa Bearnson is coming to CK Scrap & Play in Valley Forge

They sent out an e-mail today for the CK Scrap & Play in Valley Forge, PA. I've never seen her, so it will be interesting to see what she has to say. Like I've said before, I'm hoping they have that candy bar set up like they had at Provo!

Join me in Valley Forge for my keynote presentation Joy in the Journey. Together we’ll enjoy over 24 hours of cropping, goodies, and prizes! PLUS take 4 classes including 3 albums!
“From my last experience at CK Scrap and Play I’m here to tell you that this crop was a BLAST and well worth the $125.00 fee. I left feeling inspired and totally pampered! The goodies alone were well worth the price. The classes included amazing product, pages and albums. -Lisa Bearnson

LSNED - Sept. 13

I learned today that life is like a blank piece of paper waiting for me to scribble on it!

Inked white grossgrain ribbon to go with the paper.  :)

LSNED - Sept. 12

Hand sketched and pencil colored a kitten that I based on a little girl stamp from a Stampin' Up catalog.

I forgot to put the whiskers on. I did it, but I'm too lazy to post it again, plus I don't think it looks as cute.

Prince Poppycock

I don't usually follow America's Got Talent. Heck, I don't even think he's the most talented because I want Jackie Evancho to win. But you have got to admit this guy will make a perfect addition to the NY stage, or the casinos in Vegas and AC. He knows how to sell his show.

4 Year Old's Coloring Pages

Here's a page my DD just showed me that she did. I love her coloring pages!

Blog Hopping

Like I really have the time (not), but I think I'll visit some of my blogs I follow and click on who they follow just to see what I can find that's cool.

Scrap Product Reviews

I'll be reviewing products that I've bought and used on my blog. No one pays me (I wish!) to do these reviews, but I've found other bloggers reviews helpful when I've gone to make a purchase, so hopefully mine will help you as well.

American Crafts 6x6 Modern Chipboard Album Review

http://americancrafts.com/subcategory.php?id=21&sub=72#

Their blurb on the web site:
Our modern albums with heavyweight chipboard covers allow you to customize your own with paper and embellishments. Modern albums are available in four of the most popular sizes. They offer the convenience of D-ring binding and the variety of nine vibrant colors. Each album includes 10 page protectors.

My review:
This is totally worth the money if you want a quality binder that you can decorate. The d-ring snaps tightly shut with no opening so that your pages stay in the rings. I hate when a binder cracks open a bit, and then I have to reinsert the pages again...and again...and again.

The spine comes in eight colors giving you many options for holidays and daily use. The chipboard is heavy duty and is begging to be covered. The total length of the album is approximately 10 inches long and 6.5 inches tall. The depth is 2.75 on the spine, meaning you can stuff this little album way better than  you could when making a traditional 6x6 chipboard album or 6x6 postbound album.

It lists for around $7.00 on some sites and as high as $10.00 on others. I bought mine for $6.97 at a craft store in Lancaster, PA. Even if you end up paying $10.00 for it, it's worth the price for the quality of it's construction. The included 10 page protectors are a nice thickness.

I would give this little album five brads out of five. It's a winner!

My Scrapbook Style

My scrapbooking style is evolving, but one thing I notice, even when I scraplift, is I have a cartoony way of doing my pages. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's me.   :)

LSNED - Sept. 10

What I learned today is I have no routine. With a 4 year old DD in the house that is a non-stop bundle of energy, a routine is out of the question. I went from a neatly scheduled life, to one of last minute dashes out the door, and jumping from thing to thing. And because of her, I would have it no other way. She has made life a joy. Hectic joy!

September 11th, a Day to Remember

I will never forget this day for as long as I live. I won't go into what I was doing or the reactions I had as I have done that before. What I will do is remember all the people who were murdered by a group of animals who had, and still do not have, any respect for human life. They hide behind a religion, trying to say their God tells them to kill, when that's not what religion is supposed to do or be. I will remember the heroes who died, who saved countless numbers of people. I will remember the families who suffer open wounds in their hearts to this day from the loss of a loved one. I will never forget the horrors of this day, nor will I forget the tremendous human spirit of a country that banded together to try and recover. Never forget the events of 911 and more importantly, never forget those whose lives were taken from us that day. God rest their souls.

LSNED - Sept. 8

I had fun stamping, cutting and coloring all of this. Making the background paper brought back all those memories of writing lessons, and how horrible my handwriting still is!  :)

Soccer Practice

Her first game is coming up soon, so expect some more action shots!

1st Day of Pre-K 4!

My personal favorite of all the photos I took, which were a ton. She was dancing all over the place she was so happy to start school.

LSNED - Sept. 7

I really need to start using a ruler when I stamp!

LSNED - Sept. 6

I learned today that no matter how old I get, family picnics make me feel like a kid again!   :-D

I'll post my lo later after I make it. Yesterday was a fun filled picnic day and today I have to finish a school scrapbook for back to school night tonight.

I had a lot of fun fussy cutting all of this stuff and stamping those popsicles finally!

LSNED - Sept. 5.

Seeing Chuck's mom being so sick made me think of today's page. We take it for granted that we'll be around forever until we see those around us get sick, grow old, and eventually pass on. In the Fall of our lives, these leaves or family members will fall from the tree. Their memories will take root and will grow on in our hearts and minds, guaranteeing them life beyond their own life span.

Today

Today will be spent at my other half's mom's house. She and the man she's married to are in severe declining health, yet they refuse to move into an assisted environment. To be blunt, they aren't my favorite people, but I don't want them to suffer either. They need to sell their home and move somewhere so that they can get the twenty-four hour care they need. My other half thinks his mom is on her way out ie. dying. It's sad to see him having to deal with this. Losing a parent is something I don't even want to think of. He's already lost his dad over ten years ago, and now it looks like his mom is going to be gone. I know I sound harsh, but I think she's too mean to pass on so quickly. I think she'll surprise them all and be here for at least two or three more years. It will give them some much needed time to patch up some issues and maybe she'll be a little nicer too. One can only hope.

BPS - Ten Summer Photos

I finally decided to post my photos for this project so I can check it off as completed. This was another free class at BPS and I have to admit it was fun trying to get all the photos on the list.

BPS Class - Cocoa, Daisies, and Stacy

I didn't do the project the way they had it in the class, but went the route of doing a mini book. It forces me to concentrate on my journaling which I'm working on. After all, for me the photos and the stories are what are most important to me. Doing a mini book like this only took me a few hours to tell the story too!
